The Zitouna Mosque, also known as the Great Mosque of Al-Zaytuna, is the principal congregational mosque in the old city of Tunis in the capital of Tunisia. It is the largest and oldest mosque in the city, adhering to the Maliki school of Sunni Islam. The mosque was founded in 698 by order of Hassan ibn al-Nu'man and was completed by Ubayd Allah ibn al-Habhab in 732. It is considered the second oldest mosque in Tunisia after the Mosque of Uqba ibn Nafi.
