The price of a subsidized loaf of bread in Egypt has increased by 300%.

The decision to increase the price of subsidized bread takes effect today, Saturday, June 1, 2024, in line with the decision of the Egyptian Council of Ministers. The new price of a loaf of bread is 20 piasters, up from 5 piasters.

Aish Baladi is an Egyptian bread which made with 100% whole wheat flour baked in the ovens of Cairo and elsewhere and served at practically every meal.
